Baked Oats with Fruits and Nuts

If you’re on Tiktok then you’ll already be aware of the new trend called baked oats. Although baked oats have been around for a while they have recently become quite popular on TikTok as many foods. Baked oats are great for breakfast, very filling and nice when eaten warm. This recipe is great because it makes at least 4 portions so will last for many mornings throughout the week. Oats provide the body with a good source of protein and the walnuts are a great source of antioxidants and omega-3s.

Recipe: Baked oats with fruits and nuts (serves 4)

Ingredients

155g oats

45g light brown sugar

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

pinch of salt

1 egg

250ml milk/ milk alternative

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

30g butter

50g walnuts, crushed

30g raisins

1 apple, grated

Method

  • Preheat the oven to gas mark 4 and line a round oven dish or round tin with baking paper.
  • In a large bowl mix the oats, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
  • Whisk the egg, milk, vanilla extract and melted butter.
  • Slowly pour the liquid into the dry ingredients and combine well. 
  • Next add the walnuts, raisins and apple. Mix everything together and place into oven dish. 
  • Bake in the oven for 35 minutes until golden on top, leave to cool slightly before serving warm.

Sweet Smoothie

Hi everyone, I hope your day has been well. Today’s post is my new smoothie recipe that tastes so good, it is really easy to make and the ingredients are easy to find.

This is by far the tastiest smoothie I have ever made. The flavours all complement each other so well and the consistency is just perfect. I’ve used an orange, mango, grapes and blackcurrants, not a combination I would normally put together but I will definitely be making this much more. It’s quite sweet and tastes really good cold. It has a slush consistency and I would recommend this as a substitute as its much healthier. Although Summer has ended this is a great refreshing smoothie filled with delicious fruits.

Recipe: Sweet Smoothie (serves 1)

Ingredients

1 orange

100g frozen mango

50g blackcurrants and grapes

Method

  • Set out your blender and prepare the fruits.
  • Blend everything together until a smooth consistency and enjoy.

Top 8 Foods That Contain The Most Water

Water is very beneficial to the body and some foods contain high water levels such as:

Iceberg lettuce

Courgettes

Orange

Potato

Pear

Tomato

Cucumber

Watermelon slice

If your not a major fan of water try adding some of these foods to your diet, I personally love drinking water especially when it’s cold because it’s just so refreshing. I read once that drinking cold water is good for burning calories because the body has to work extra hard to reduce the temperature, but then I also read that it’s best to drink water at room/body temperature between 23-37°c because the body doesn’t have to use excess energy to reduce the temperature instead of digesting it properly (I think).

To be honest I have no idea if one is better than the other :/ but it definitely is good to drink, especially when the weather is warm your body needs to be hydrated. I’m currently out in Spain and the weather is so warm nothing compared to back home in the UK!!!

Sweet Summer Smoothie

Such lovely warm weather we had in the UK today and the most refreshing thing to help me cool down is a sweet smoothie 🙂

I got a few ingredients together after a long day at work and took them to the blender. I prefer just using only fruits when I make my smoothie to get the best nutrients and vitamins I can.

It’s so simple and quick to prepare even if your super tired, your body will really appreciate it.

Healthy Fruit Snack

Just thought I would do a quick post on healthy fruit snacks as throughout the day I get hungry and rather than eating junk food, a much better option would be fruit!

Here I have summer berries with chopped oranges and kiwis…

– kiwis are a great source of vitamin K and C. They are a great of fiber too which can help to prevent constipation.

– summer berries may be small in size but have many health benefits, their like low calorie treats packed with fiber and chronic disease fighting antioxidants.

– oranges are a great source of vitamin C which helps boost the immune system. Oranges promote healthy, clear skin and are full of useful nutrients that our bodies need.
