Homemade Oat Facials

I have two recipes to use depending on your skin type, I’ve always been interested in natural homemade alternatives and these are both great.

1) Best for oily skin
2 tbsp crushed oats
1 tsp bicarbonate soda
Enough water to make a paste.
Mix together, apply to the face then wash off after 6 mins using warm water and pat dry.

2) Best for dry skin
2 tbsp crushed oats
1 tsp organic honey
Enough milk to make it runny.
Mix together, apply to the face, leave on for 10 mins then wash off using warm water and pat dry.

I would recommend to use at least twice a week for best results. After using these facials your face will feel free and refreshed because your skin has absorbed in all that goodness. Once you’ve washed off your face use a light oil such as almond oil to keep your skin soft and moisturized.

*You know it’s good for your skin if you can eat it too 🙂

Crunchy Oat Biscuits

Definitely something you can carry on the go, or eat for breakfast when your short for time 🙂

75g oats
75g flour
50g unsweetened desiccated coconut
75g castor sugar
75g butter
2 tbsp syrup or honey
1 tsp bicarbonate soda
2 tbsp boiling water

1. Preheat the oven to gas mark 4 and line two baking trays with parchment paper. Then in a bowl mix the oats, flour, coconut and caster.

2. In a pan on a low heat, melt the butter and syrup/honey. Once melted add to the bowl, then dissolve the bicarbonate soda into the water and also pour into the bowl mixing carefully.

3. Use a tbsp to equally make balls from the dough, placing them onto the baking tray and gently flatten.

4. Put in the oven for 15mins. Once baked remove from the tray using a spatula and place onto a wire rack to cool down.

This recipe should make 14 biscuits.
